Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Rwanda
Airport pickup and transfer to your Hotel in Kigali. Early arrivals can take optional tour of Kigali city including Kimironko market and the Genocide memorials and the surrounding areas. Overnight and Dinner – Hotel Des Mille Collines.
Day 2: Transfer to Bukavu- DR Congo
In the morning, you will be picked by the driver from your hotel in Kigali and drive southwards to Cyangugu boarder on the way to Bukavu in DR Congo. You will have a stop over in Butare, tovisit the national museum of Rwanda, the king’s palace in Nyanza, and the Rwanda genocide memorial site. After lunch, continue on a scenic journey to Bukavu with wonderful views of the hills in Rwanda through the tropical forest of Nyungwe National park and a clear view of Lake Kivu. Day 3: Lowland Gorilla tracking tour in KahuziBiega – DR Congo
On the 3rd day of your 10 days Kahuzi biega and Virunga national park safari, after an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will head for the memorable adventure of tracking the lowland gorillas in KahuziBiega National park. The lowland Gorillas stay in bigger families as compared to mountain gorillas; you will not regret the Congo safari effort once you meet the amazing Gorillas! Later in the afternoon drive back to your hotel. Dinner and overnight at hotel Elizabeth
Day 4: Transfer to Goma
In the morning you will take a speed boat from Bukavu to Goma which takes 3-4 hours. Upon arrival in Goma transfer to your hotel for rest and overnight at the Hotel. In the afternoon Goma city tour and return back to the hotel. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Linda
Day 5: Transfer to Virunga National Park
At 11.30am pick up from the Hotel and transfer to Virunga National Park. In the afternoon nature walk and birds watching in Kibumba Village. Dinner and overnight at Kibumba Tented Camp
Day 6: Mountains Gorilla trekking
After an early breakfast at Mikeno Lodge, guests will set off for the gorilla trek at Bukima Ranger Post. On arrival to Bukima, trekkers will meet their Ranger guides and receive a briefing before starting the gorilla trek and to b e quite different from gorilla trekking in Kahuzi biea national park, for gorilla trekking in Virunga, you will have access to the endangered mountain gorillas that can be seen in high elevations therefore get ready to hike mount Mikeno. Treks usually require 1-2.5 hours of hiking each way, depending on location of the group being trekked and the difficulty of the terrain, spend an hour with them and after the experience, you will return to your hotel for relaxations and later in the afternoon explore Bukima by visiting the Park’s bamboo project.

Day 7: Nyiragongo Hike
On the 7th day of your 10 days Kahuzi biega and Virunga national park safari, after breakfast in Kibumba, proceed to Kibati Ranger post at 8:15am, departure point for the Nyiragongo volcano trek. The climb up the volcano will take around four to six hours and trekkers will overnight on the summit.
Day 8: Descend Nyiragongo & Proceed to Gisenyi
This morning, you will descend the Volcano and head down to Kibati by 11:00am. Here, you will connect with your driver / guide and transfer to Gisenyi Rwanda to spend the evening at leisure! Enjoy dinner at overnight at Paradise Malahide
Day 9: Transfer to Kigali
Wake up to a tasty breakfast and journey back to Kigali, you will do a city tour visiting the Genocide memorial site in Kigali and Kaplaki crafts village for souvenir shopping and connect to your hotel in Kigali for lunch. After lunch you will be dropped off at a location of your choice in Kigali city or at the airport and the end of your Congo safari experience.
