2022 Nyungwe forest national park prices : The Nyungwe forest national park is another of Rwanda’s national parks and this national park is one with a number of activities to offer. The Nyungwe forest national park is located in the south western part of Rwanda and is a 5 to 6 hours’ drive from Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda and the base of the Kigali International airport. The Nyungwe forest covers an area of about 970 kilometers with diverse animal and plant species. The Nyungwe forest national park was established as a national park of Rwanda in 2004 to protect the ecosystem of this forest. There is a subsidized rate for the other categories such as the foreign residents of Rwanda can pay 60 USD for a chimpanzee permit while the Rwandan nationals are only charged 5,000 rwandan francs for a permit.
There are other categories such as the nationals for the East African community (EAC) who will only pay 10 USD for a permit, the residents of the East African community would pay 60 USD for a chimpanzee trekking permit in Nyungwe forest, foreign resident students of Rwanda are only charged 30 USD.
Only guests with identification can qualify for the subsidized permit prices.
Other primates trekking
As we had mentioned earlier, the Nyungwe forest has other primates such as the blue monkeys, the black and white colobus monkeys, grey cheeked monkeys and a permit to visit any of these primates goes for 60 USD for the foreign nonresidents.
40 USD for the foreign residents to enjoy trekking any of the 12 other primates of the Nyungwe forest. Rwandan nationals will only pay 5,000 rwandan francs while the east African community nationals will only pay 10 USD per person. The foreign students living and staying in Rwanda are classified as Rwandan foreign resident students and will only have to pay 20 USD.
Canopy walk
The Nyungwe forest national park gives visitors a chance to explore the forest from the top as they walk this 200 meter long 90 meter high suspended bridge. This is a great opportunity to spot the birdlife of the Nyungwe forest. The Canopy walk way of Nyungwe is available for booking by guests of age 7 and above however those below the age of 15 will only be accepted to take on the walk in the company of adults.
The Foreign nonresidents will be asked to pay 60 USD while the foreign residents will pay 50 USD for a chance to experience this canopy walk. The Rwandan residents will only pay 5,000 rwandan francs, the east African community nationals will pay 5,000 rwandan francs for this experience as well while the east African foreign residents will only pay 50 USD.
The foreign resident students and the East African students will only pay 25 USD and 5 USD per permit respectively.
The Nyungwe forest national park also offers activities such as the Isumo tropical waterfall hike where the foreign residents will only pay 50 USD per person, the Congo-Nile divide guided hike where a permit goes for 100 USD per person, guided nature walks on one of the trails of the Nyungwe forest with a permit going for 40 USD per person.
Take on a bird watching guided experience in the Nyungwe forest by purchasing a permit at 50 USD for the foreign non-residents. If you are interested in further moment capturing and would like a permit to commercial films, the fee is charged per day and this is 1,000 USD to film the chimpanzees, 600 USD to film the other attractions of the park.
