DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Kigali to Queen Elizabeth National Park
On arrival at Kigali International airport, you will be welcomed by your guide and go for a brief city tour including the local market and the genocide museum in Kigali. Later transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park with lunch en-route. Dinner and overnight stay at Park View Safari Lodge
Day 2: Chimpanzee trek in Kalinzu and Launch Cruise
Have breakfast and go for Chimpanzee tracking in Kalinzu forest.
Return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon; go for a launch cruise on the Kazinga channel famed for its highest concentration of hippos in Africa. You will also get to observe a lot of game here, birds of different species and crocodiles. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Park View Safari Lodge as above.
Day 3: Game drive and transfer to Bwindi
On the 3rd day of your 6 Days Queen, Bwindi, Akagera National Park Safari from Kigali , enjoy morning breakfast and transfer to Bwindi national park driving through the famous Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth national park where you may spot some game and if you’re lucky enough, you can also watch the tree climbing lions. Proceed to Bwindi with lunch en-route arriving in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge
Day 4: Gorilla trekking – Bwindi
Enjoy early morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters with packed lunch for briefing by the ranger guides and later head into the forest for the trek. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi can last anywhere between 2 to 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. On finding them, visitors are allowed 1 hour to view and take photos of these gentle primates and later return to the starting point where a certificate is awarded and meet the driver / guide and transfer back to your hotel for dinner and over night.
Day 5: Transfer to Akagera national park and Ihema Boat Cruise.
Have breakfast and transfer to Akagera national park where you will arrive in time for lunch at the lodge and later embark on the afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema where you will see game like hippopotamuses, Crocodiles and many bird species that live around the lake and the surrounding swamps. Dinner and overnight Akagera Game Lodge.
Day 6: Early morning game drive and transfer back to Kigali.
Rise up early and go for a game drive with great anticipation of seeing the different animals which rise early to graze and predators looking for their early morning kill. After the game drive, return to the lodge to freshen up and embark on your journey back to Kigali arriving in the afternoon. You will be dropped off either at your hotel or at the airport for your onward flight as you will advise.
