Detailed Itinerary for 15 Days Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania Safari
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Kampala – Hotel
Upon arrival at Entebbe airport, you will meet our company representative/guide who will be waiting to receive you and transfer you to Kampala city which is 37km away. You will be transferred to your hotel to check-in and rest from the long flight. In the evening dinner will be served and spend a comfortable night at the hotel.
Accommodation and meals: Forest cottages for budget/Fairway Hotel for mid-range/Sheraton hotel for luxury – full board or while in Entebbe, dinner and overnight stay at Papyrus Guesthouse for budget/Best western Garden Hotel for mid-range
Day 2: Drive to Kibale national park (5-6 hours) – Bigodi swamp
After breakfast at your hotel, set off to transfer to Kibale forest national park in the western part of Uganda with stopovers to stretch and lunch depending on your location and time. Connect to your lodge with en-route visit of the crater lakes near the park. Explore the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. The reserve is abundant with butterflies, plants, animals, in particular, birds and primates. Spectacular birds like Great Blue Turaco and rare Papyrus Gonolek will be of great interest to birders. The swamp is also home to more elusive animals such as Red Colobus monkeys and Sitatunga antelope. There is also the opportunity to visit local community projects that have been financed by tourism. Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking activity – transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
After breakfast, drive to Kibale park head offices for briefing about the chimpanzees. Enter the forest and start trek the chimpanzees in their natural habitat, its take 2-5 hours to find them and on finding them, you are allowed 1 hour to be in their process as they swing from the branches in the canopy high above the forest floor.
After lunch, transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park to reduce your distance for the next day transfer. It’s a 3 hours’ drive from Kibale national park to Queen Elizabeth national park. Day 4: Morning game drive – boat cruise in Kazinga channel
On the 4th day of your 15 Days Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania Safari, After your breakfast, you will set off to an early morning game drive where you will encounter other animals like buffaloes, elephants, waterbuck, Uganda Kob, and other types of antelopes. Then go back for lunch.
Afternoon, go for a 3 hours launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel into Lake Edward, this cruise will let you pass through a place of the highest concentration of hippos and you may also see many animals drinking at the water’s edge. The cruise also offers a good platform for photography, bird watching, and games. Dinner and overnight stay at as above
Day 5: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable national park (6 hours)
After breakfast, meet your driver to depart for Bwindi. Drive via the Ishasha sector for changes in seeing the tree-climbing lions. Proceed to Bwindi with en-route lunch. Connect to your lodge in the Buhoma or Ruhija sector of the Bwindi forest. Dinner, and spend a night at Buhoma Community Rest Camp for budget option/Buhoma Haven Lodge for mid-range/Silverback Safari lodge for luxury
Day 6: Gorilla trekking
Have breakfast and transfer you to park offices for briefing about Mountain Gorilla trekking by a local guide. The time taken is usually between 2-8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. Meeting the gorillas unexpectedly is one of the most captivating lifetime experiences. You will have a chance to observe and take pictures at very close range. You will observe adults feeding and groaning among themselves. After an hour with the long-awaited gorillas, your guide and rangers will lead you back to the starting point where your driver will readily be waiting to transfer you back to the lodge. Depending on the time you return from the trekking activity, you may do an optional community tour. Have dinner and overnight stay as lodge above
Day 7: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi which is about 2 hours’ drive and upon arrival, explore Lake Bunyonyi on a canoe ride. This is the place to relax after all the hiking experience. Lake Bunyonyi is the second deepest lake in Africa with about 29 islands such as the punishment island, Bushara, Bwama and Njuyeera islands to mention a few. The lake is surrounded by steep terraced hillsides and best of all, unlike other lakes, Lake Bunyonyi is Bilharzia, hippo and crocodile free with crystal clear waters good for swimming.
After lunch, you can either relax at the lodge or go for Zip-lining at your one cost or do any other interesting activity of your choice. Return to relax at the lodge with great views of the hills and the lake. Day 8: Fly to Masai Mara national reserve – evening game drive
On the 8th day of your 15 Days Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania Safari, Have breakfast, connect to Kihihi airstrip on a 2 hours’ drive for your flight to Entebbe airport departing Kihihi airstrip at 9:45 am and arrive in Entebbe 11:45 am. Upon arrival at Entebbe airport, you will connect for your onward flight to Masai Mara. Aero-link Uganda operates daily flights from Entebbe to Masai Mara. Flight to Masai Mara depart Entebbe airport at 12:15 and arrive in Masai Mara at 14:30 hours. Upon arrival at one of the allocated airstrips in Masai Mara, you will be met by your Kenya safari guide to drive you to your booked lodge for late lunch.
Later evening connects for an evening game drive which is a rewarding game viewing experience on which you will spot predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs as they try to hunt in the dark times of the night with a help of a spotlight. Day 9: Full day game drive in Maasai Mara
On the 9th day of your 15 Days Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania Safari, Wake up early in the morning, have breakfast and grab your packed lunch and meet your safari driver to head to the plains of Maasai Mara for a full day adventure in this stunning savannah vegetation of Masai Mara as you watch many animals in large numbers such as lions, elephants, cheetahs, leopards, wildebeests, zebras and many more. You will enjoy your picnic lunch and proceed for a game drive till the sun goes down. In the evening you will head back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight at lodge as above
Day 10: Another day – Full day in Masai Mara – community tour
On the 10th day of your 15 Days Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania Safari, After breakfast, you will head to the plains of the reserve for the final morning game drive sighting more animals, after the game drive you will head back to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon you will head to the Maasai village/Masai Loita Hills for a cultural experience. On this experience you will enjoy getting a deeper insight into the Maasai culture by interacting with the local Maasai people, be entertained by local dancers, drama and Maasai warriors; buy local Maasai items such as local Maasai Shukas, beautifully made accessories such as necklaces and earrings and taste local cuisines. After the experience, you will head back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight at lodge as above
Optional activity; Hot air balloon – Wake early and be picked up by the air balloon team for your hot air balloon safari which starts in the early morning, just in time for sunrise. For about one hour you will be floating peacefully above the ground, with a bird’s eye view of the African bush below. The capacity for this activity is limited making this a very special and exclusive experience. Breakfast will be provided and thereafter connect back to the lodge.
Day 11: Transfer to Serengeti national park via Isabenia border
You will have a very early breakfast and checkout from the lodge to embark on your journey to Serengeti national park in Tanzania. You will have an en-route game drive on your way to Isebania border where you will be crossing the border. This day will take you to other side of Masai Mara as you exit the park via Olololo gate in Mara west.
Upon arrival at the border the customs office will do clearance after which, meet your Tanzanian driver guide to proceed to Serengeti where you will enter the park with the game drive lasting up to 2 hours as you enjoy the plains of Serengeti. Day 12: Full day game drive in Serengeti national park
On the 12th day of your 15 Days Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania Safari Have early breakfast, get parked lunch and go for a full day game drive we start from far North around the Mara river in case you came on the opposite month when the migration will start from Serengeti after missing it from Mara Kenya side now this will be you turn to enjoy the best. Spend the whole day looking for these animals like Hippos, Elephants, Buffalos, Giraffes, Lions, Hyenas, Cheetahs, Antelopes, Hartebeest, zebras mention but a few. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at lodge above
Day 13: Morning game drive and transfer to explore Ngorongoro conservation area
After your cup of tea, have our lunch boxes and drive through the park with en route game drive to Serengeti. Visit the remarkable stop at the gorge Olduvia Gorge – one of the historical sites in the world where Dr Leaky discovered the remains of the early man, the museum is worth a visit and get to know much about our ancestral life style in Ngorongoro conservation area.
After your packed lunch, you will enjoy a game drive with Ngorongoro conservation for chances to witness the wildebeests (Calving period of the wildebeests) as they are estimated to be in Ngorongoro around this time of the year. The migration process will be finishing in the southwards trek of Serengeti moving along the eastern edge of the Serengeti national park into the Ngorongoro conservation area. While here, the plains are richer in nutritious grass providing the herds with the best conditions for raising their new born calves. The herds occupy the short-grass plains that spread over the lower northern slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater highlands and around Olduvai Gorge. Day 14: Explore the Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, drive back to the park with your parked lunch for a morning drive down into the crater 600m down crater. It’s much famous as one of the biggest volcanic calderas in the world; it occupies over 1 million animals with all the big five including the rare black rhino present. Other animals include Lions, leopards, cheetahs, Elephants, Buffalos, Giraffes, zebras and others.
Later afternoon/evening, drive back to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at lodge as above
Day 15: Transfer to Arusha – Departure
After breakfast, check-out of the lodge to embark on your journey to Arusha. It’s a 3-4 hours’ drive. You will be dropped off at a hotel you advise or at the airport for your onward flight back home. End of the 15 days’ safari
