2 Days Bwindi Gorilla Trekking from Rwanda: This 2 days gorilla safari starts from Rwanda’s capital in Kigali and takes you on an adventurous primate journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda.

Bwindi Impenetrable national park is located in the southwestern part of Uganda, and is known as home to the largest population of mountain gorillas in the world. The national park shelters over 459 individual mountain gorillas. There are currently 18 habituated gorilla groups in Bwindi national park, of which 15 of these groups are available for tourists to track. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi national park is conducted in groups of a maximum of 8 members per gorilla group and tracking can take between 2 to 8 hours, depending on how fast or easily you locate a gorilla group. You will be given only an hour with the gorillas once you have located your specific gorilla group.

Day 1: Pick up from Kigali and Transfer to Bwindi.

Pick up from Kigali: On Day 1 of your 2 Days Bwindi gorilla trekking safari from Rwanda, your guide/driver will pick you up from your designated pick up location in Kigali city; it would either be from your hotel or from Kigali International Airport.

Kigali City Tour & Transfer to Bwindi: You will embark on a short tour of Kigali city where you will visit some of the interesting cultural and historical sites in the city like; Kigali Genocide Memorial Center, Camp Kigali, and Kimironko market to mention but a few. You will then have lunch and proceed with your journey to Bwindi national park in Uganda via the Katuna border. Upon your arrival in Bwindi, check into your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge/ Gorilla Heights Lodge.

 Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi and Transfer back to Kigali.

This is the day you have been anxiously waiting for! Have breakfast very early at you lodge as your guide will pick you up at 6am. You will embark on a short journey to the Parks headquarters in Buhoma. You are supposed to be at Buhoma at exactly 7am for a briefing by the park’s head ranger which will begin at 8am and then you will be put in groups of 8 individuals per group depending on the gorilla group you are going to track. Tracking begins at exactly 8:30 am hence endeavor to always keep time.

Each tracking group consists of strictly eight individuals with each group having a park guide and ranger. Tracking can take about 1- 6 hours depending how easily and quick the gorillas are spotted. Once you have located a gorilla group, you will be give exactly an hour with them; hence you should maximize your time well and don’t forget to take lots of pictures without using your camera’s flash. The tracking trails can be very wet, steep and slippery thus you should wear a good pair of hiking boots.

After your gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi Forest, head back to the park headquarters to receive your gorilla trekking certificate and meet your guide, who will drive you back to your hotel in Kigali City. Alternatively, you can have your guide drop you off at Kigali airport where you will take your flight back home. End of Tour.
