4 Days Bwindi Gorillas & Lake Bunyonyi Overview
Mountain gorilla trekking is a very physical activity. You will get tired often and will need to relax. This package aims at letting you trek and make you relax at Lake Bunyonyi after so that your fatigue level is down by the time you depart the country.
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park
After morning breakfast at your Hotel, you will be transferred to Bwindi-home of the remaining mountain gorillas in Kisoro district, it’s a 7-8 hours drive with en route visit at the Equator and lunch in Mbarara town. Proceed to kisoro. Dinner and overnight stay at Ruhija Gorilla lodge/Lake Bunyonyi Overland resort
Day 2: Gorilla trekking experience
You will enjoy early morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters with your packed lunch and bottled drinking water for briefing by the park ranger guides at 7:00am. After briefing, you will start your gorilla trekking journey accompanied by the ranger guides in search of the mountain gorillas; this takes 2 to 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. On finding them, you will spend 1 hour with these gentle giants.
Retreat from the gorillas. Dinner and overnight stay at lodges as above
Day 3: Boat trip on Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast, connect for a boat ride/ canoe paddle and visit the lakes main islands including visiting the local community around lake and on the islands. Lake Bunyonyi located between Kisoro-Kabale districts is surrounded by great scenic views of surrounding hills close to the border with Rwanda. It’s believed to be the second deepest lake in Africa with the depth between 44m and 900m deep and is about 7 to 25kms wide.
Day 4: Return to Entebbe/Departure
After early morning breakfast, embark on your journey to Entebbe with en route lunch in Mbarara town. Arrive in Entebbe and either transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
