8 Days Mt. Elgon Adventure Safari Overview
Day 1, Arrival at Entebbe International Airport
On your arrival, our tour representative/guide will pick you up from the airport and transfer you to your Hotel in Entebbe/Kampala for dinner and overnight stay at Holiday Express Hotel/Entebbe Central Inn for Budget or Windsor Lake Victoria Hotel/ Imperial Botanical Beach hotel/Kampala Serena Hotel/Sheraton Hotel for Luxury or The Boma Guest house/ Imperial royale/Grand Imperial for Mid range. Depending on the time of arrival, your guide will take you on a city tour around Kampala. Places to visit include, Kasubi Tombs, Namugongo Martyrs Shrine, the Uganda Museum and the African Craft Village.
Day 2, Transfer to Jinja
After an early morning breakfast, you will depart to Eastern Uganda to Jinja which is well known as the origin of River Nile and the Bujagali falls. En route you will visit the famous Mabira forests for a short forest walk to search for forest birds and colobus monkeys.
Proceed and reach Jinja town. You will visit the Source of River Nile and get a chance to see where the mighty River Nile (Longest River in Africa) starts its journey all the way to Mediterranean Sea. Have lunch in Jinja town and after transfer to a point where white water rafting thrilling adventure starts at Bujagali falls. Dinner and overnight at Jinja Nile Resort for Luxury/Hotel triangle for mid range/Nile Anchor Palace/Nile Explorers Camp for Budget
Day 3, Transfer to Mbale (Mount Elgon)
You will leave Jinja early morning after breakfast and transfer to Mbale town. Upon arrival, you will have lunch and after visit the Uganda Wildlife Authority offices for registration.
Later transfer Sipi village on Mount Elgon. En route you will have beautiful views of the mountain ranges and the slopes. Check in into your accommodation (Lacam Lodge/Sipi falls Lodge) after which you will enjoy a short hike to the Sipi Falls. Return for dinner and overnight stay at your Lodge
Day 4, Kapkwata to Piswa Camp
After breakfast, you will transfer to Kapkwata at 2190 meters, where you will start your hike from. You will follow the Kapkwata Trail which is a scenic route running through the bamboo, heath and moor land. Arrive at Piswa Camp at 2850 meters for dinner and camping at Piswa Hut Campsite.
Day 5, Piswa camp to Hunters cave camp
Have a morning breakfast and after you will hike up to the rim of the caldera through beautiful columns of the giant Lobelia Elgonensis. Visit the hot springs and Suam Gorge before descending to the Hunters Cave Camp at 3850 meters. Dinner and camping at Hunters Cave Camp.
Day 6, Hunters cave to Mude Cave Camp
After a morning breakfast, you will ascend to the top of the caldera up to the Wagagai Peak at 4321 meters. Take photographs and after descend through the Jackson summit (4200 meter) and arrive at Mude Cave Camp at 3500 meters for dinner and camping at Mude Cave Camp.
Day 7, Mude camp to Budadiri and to Kampala
Early morning after breakfast, you will descend through the Sasa trail to Budadiri ranger station and then travel to Mbale town. After lunch, transfer back to Kampala. Drop off will be at your Hotel.
Day 8, Departure
Have your breakfast at the Hotel and depending on the time of departure, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home with memories of this Mt. Elgon Safari
