6 Days Rwanda Congo Adventure is an ideal safari package for primate lovers and the hiking lovers. Virunga national park is one of the homes of the mountain gorillas and is also the starting point of the hike up Mount Nyiragongo, one of Africa’s active volcanic mountains.
This Rwanda and Congo safari can be booked throughout the year any day of the week. It starts from Kigali cross into the Democratic republic of Congo and back to Kigali via Volcanoes national park Rwanda.

Trip description
Day 1: Drive from Kigali to Virunga national park
By 8 am, you will be expected to be ready for pick up and start your 6 day safari. You will meet up with your driver guide and exchange pleasantries then embark on your 5 hour transfer to Goma. You will arrive at the Grande Barrier to check in with the Tourism office of Virunga national park located in the building. After check in, you will connect with your driver guide to join the security convoy headed to the hotel in Virunga.
You will arrive in time for a late lunch and check in at the hotel. You will relax and cool off at the lodge as you await for dinner to be served. Dinner and overnight will be at the Kibumba tented camp.
Day 2: Mountain gorilla trekking in Virunga national park Congo
Wake up early enough to make it at the park headquarters in time for the briefing given before every activity at the park. Hire your porters and follow the ranger guides into the forest to search for the gorilla family of the day. Mountain gorilla trekking lasts about 2 to 5 hours usually depending on how far into the forest the gorilla group maybe that day.
Upon meeting the mountain gorilla family of the day, you will be allowed an hour to study and be in their presence at a 6 meter distance to avoid any exchange of viral infections or attack from these wild but habituated primates. After the experience, you will drive back to your lodge for a late lunch and the evening will be spent at leisure. Night fall will come and you will connect for dinner at your hotel as the night before.
Day 3: Hike up Mount Nyiragongo
By 7 am, you should be done with breakfast and ready to set out to the Kibati ranger post for the brief given by the rangers on the expectations and code of conduct while on this trek. You will hire your porters if need be and set out on this 5 hour trek up hill. You will have 2 stopovers to refresh and cool off abit.
You will arrive at the summit of the Nyiragongo volcanic mountain in the early evening hours. Relax as you enjoy the view from the top. Dinner will be served and you will spend a night in the Nyiragongo summits.
Day 4: Descend Mount Nyiragongo and transfer to Volcanoes national park
You will have an early breakfast at the Nyiragongo summit shortly before you start your descent back to the trailhead. You will be back at the Kibati Ranger post by midday and drive with your driver guide to go further to Goma and cross back into Rwanda. You will have lunch in Gisenyi and set out to the Volcanoes national park to check in at your hotel. You will spend the evening at leisure as you wait to have dinner and retire for the night.

Day 6: Drive back to Kigali
As you enjoy your last moments on this Rwanda safari, grab a cup of tea and snacks at your hotel and after get your bags to check out and exit your hotel. Your driver guide will be waiting to assist you and you will embark on your transfer back to Kigali. You will visit the Dian Fossey memorial fund museum briefly and connect further for drop off in Kigali.
