4 Days Rwanda Gorilla Safari Overview
Day 1: Transfer to Ruhengeri/Parc National Des Volcans
You will be picked up by our experienced Rwanda safari company Guide from your Hotel in Kigali and transfer to Parc National Des Volcans which is found in the northern area of the country. The park is well known for its rare mountain gorillas and therefore Gorilla trekking is its major tourism activity. Upon arrival you will go for Ruhengeri city tour, after, transfer to your place of accommodation for dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge for Luxury/ Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge for Mid range/Kinigi Guest house or Muhabura lodge for Budget.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Parc National Des Volcans
Early in the morning after breakfast and a briefing from the ORTPN officials, set off for the gorilla tracking in Rwanda. This experience of gorilla tracking is a once in a life time adventure. The rangers will lead you deep into the forest in search for the Gorillas. You will move up and down the rugged terrain until you finally meet these harmonious creatures that will entertain you with performances for about 1 hour.
The activity in Rwanda can take 3-5 hours since the gorillas move up and down. This is an awe some and exciting moment. Return for lunch at the Lodge and in the afternoon, visit the Karisoke research center and the graves of Diane Fossey a woman who was murdered because she was protecting these endangered mountain Gorillas. Return for dinner and overnight stay at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge for Luxury/ Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge for Mid range/Kinigi Guest house or Muhabura lodge for Budget.
Day 3: Dian Fossey / golden monkey trek
After an early breakfast, you will again transfer to the Park Headquarters for registration and briefing about the Golden Monkey tracking or Dian Fossey grave trekking. You will choose one activity and later set off to start the activity. For those who will be tracking Golden Monkeys, they should be aware that these Golden Monkeys are rare species of primates in Africa and only a few populations can be seen in the Virunga mountains of Volcanoes National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for the side of Uganda.
For those who will go for Dian Fossey grave Trek, they should be aware that she was an American Zoologist who was murdered in 1985 while on her research about the rare species of Mountain Gorillas and other primates in Parc Des Volcanoes. Her graves are close to her research center. After the trek, return for dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge for Luxury / Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge for Mid range / Kinigi Guest house or Muhabura lodge for Budget.
Day 4: Transfer back to Kigali
After breakfast, you will depart for Kigali. En route stop over at the Nyirangarama town for lunch, this will give you the opportunity to visit the Urwibutso Ecotourism Project. This project supports local farmers in many ways such as contributing to social and economic development in the region through providing services like Schools, Health centers, creating job opportunities and training farmers. Later transfer to Kigali city in the evening to catch up your evening flight back home.
