Detailed Itinerary 7 Days Bwindi Gorilla Trekking Safari From Kigali.
Day 1: Pickup in Kigali and Transfer to Bwindi
On your first day, you will be met by our driver upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport. You can opt for a short tour of Kigali city if you wish and then have lunch. After lunch, embark on a 3-4 hours’ drive to Bwindi National Park in Uganda arriving in the evening. Check into your lodge for dinner and overnight at lodge.
Day 2: Guided Nature Walk
Start you day in the morning with breakfast at your lodge. You will then meet up with your guide at the lodge and drive to the park visitor’s center for a briefing from the park ranger. After your briefing, you will proceed with your guided nature walk in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Your nature walk will take approximately 1-2 hours depending on which trail you will be exploring today. After your nature walk, drive back to your lodge for lunch and relax for the rest of your evening. Dinner and overnight same as above.
Day 3: Free Day & Optional Batwa Community Tour
Today is your free day. Wake up at leisure and spend your day relaxing at the lodge. Alternatively, you can opt for a community tour where you will be visiting some of the Batwa communities that are near Bwindi national park. You will get to watch dance and singing performances from the local dance troupe and learn about Batwa ancient history from one of the Batwa elders in the community. Return back to your lodge for dinner and overnight same as above.
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
Certainly one of the most exciting days of your safari; today you will be gorilla tracking. Breakfast will be served early and lunch will be packed. The briefing is at 7 am. Your guide will give you highlights of specific details about the way of life of the gorillas you will be tracking. The hike can take anything from 2-7 hours through the steep, densely forested hills and then finally coming across the gorillas camouflaged in the vegetation is an inspiring and privileged moment.
Once you reach the gorillas, you are allowed to spend one hour with them as you stand 6 meters away. Upon completion of this magical encounter, you will drive you back to the lodge where you can relax in the afternoon or go for another walk to visit one of the communities around. Dinner and overnight stay at lodge as above.
Day 5: Drive Back to Kigali.
Have breakfast at your lodge in the morning. You will meet up with your driver/ guide and drive back to Kigali city with a brief stopover at Lake Bunyonyi. You can opt for a boat ride on the lake and have lunch with the view of the lake and later proceed with your drive to Kigali city arriving in the late afternoon. Check into your hotel for dinner and overnight stay at lodge.
Day 6: Free Day /Optional Kigali City Tour
Wake up at leisure and have breakfast at your hotel. Today you will get to spend your day at leisure with an option of doing a tour of Kigali City. You can visit interesting places in Kigali such as the Kigali Fazenda Sengha where you can engage in a number of interesting activities such as Zip lining, horseback riding, archery, bungee, quad biking, Pentanque and badminton among others. Other places in the city that you can visit include; Kimironko market, Caplaki craft village and Inema Arts centre among others. Dinner and overnight same as above.
Day 7: Departure.
Have breakfast in the morning and depending on your departure flight schedules, have your driver/guide drop you off at Kigali Airport in time to check in and board your flight back home. End of Uganda Tour.
