This 4 days Rwanda primate safari will give you access to the most notable activities that will lead you to a number of endangered primate species in the wild as they go about their daily activities in the wild. Participate in gorilla trekking in Rwanda and get the opportunity to watch half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas in volcanoes national park as you hike mount muhabura, mount sabyinyo, mount gahinga, mount bisoke and mount karisimbi that will lead you to the habituated gorilla families in Rwanda, get to participate in golden monkey trekking in Rwanda to give you access to the endangered golden monkey troops that are only endemic to the Albertine rift that will lead you to the bamboo trees in the park and make your way to Nyungwe national park, the primate hub of Rwanda where you will participate in chimpanzee trekking in Rwanda which will lead you to the playful primates in the wild for a memorable primate safari in Rwanda.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Ruhengeri
You will be welcomed by our guide transfer to Kigali city for a short city tour where you will visit the genocide memorial site. Later in the afternoon, you will transfer to Ruhengeri town for dinner and overnight stay at Muhabura Hotel
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Early in the morning after breakfast and a briefing from the park officials, set off for the gorilla trekking. This experience of gorilla trekking is a once in a life time adventure. The rangers will lead you deep into the forest in search of the Gorillas.
You will move up and down the rugged terrain until you finally meet these harmonious creatures whose company you will cherish for 1 hour. The activity in Rwanda can take 3-5 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. In the afternoon you may go for an optional village tour for a cultural experience with a resident local guide. Return for dinner and overnight stay at Muhabura Hotel as above
Day 3: Golden monkey tracking & transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Wake up to an early breakfast and off to the park headquarters for briefing as on day 2 above. Go for Golden monkey tracking; the activity lasts 3 to 4 hours. Return to the lodge where you will freshen up and transfer to Nyungwe forest park with lunch en-route and arriving in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at Gisakura Hotel
Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking & Canopy Walk.
Enjoy breakfast and go for briefing before entering the forest, searching for the active and playful fellows in Nyungwe forest. The Chimpanzees are the easy to spot, as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing. Chimp tracking usually takes about 3 hours. You will then return to your accommodation for lunch.
After lunch, you will go on a walking trail that will take you to the Canopy Walk at Uwinka; a swing bridge 50 meters in length that is suspended from large trees. You will be able to see the amazing rainforest with a bird’s eye view, spotting wildlife moving about below you. Before night fall, you will return back to Kigali. If the city tour wasn’t possible on the day of arrival, you will have a brief city tour and transfer to the airport for your onward flight and the end of your Rwanda tour.
