This 4 days Akagera National Park safari will give you the ultimate conservation and wildlife safari in Rwanda. The experience will give you the chance to enjoy the game drives in Akagera National Park, which will lead you to the big five animals in Rwanda. You will also have the chance to watch a number of different mammal species, different bird species, and exceptional views in the park as you enjoy the rides in the park. The safari experience will allow you to embark on a scenic tour where you will meet up with the rangers to understand the different conservation developments in the park. Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park and Ihema Boat Cruise.
You will be met by your driver guide at your agreed location in Kigali to transfer to Akagera national park, where you will arrive in time to embark on the late afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema, where you will see game like hippopotamuses, Crocodiles, and many bird species that live around the lake and the surrounding swamps. Dinner and overnight at Akagera Game Lodge (Mid-range), Karenge Bush Camp (budget)
Day 2-3: Early morning game drive and Evening Game Drive.
Rise up early and go for a game drive with great anticipation of seeing the different animals which rise early to graze and predators looking for their early morning kill. After the game drive, return to connect with your driver guide and drive back to your lodge for lunch. After lunch, you spend the rest of your afternoon relaxing at your lodge, and later in the evening, you will meet up with your guide and embark on an evening game drive in the park. Get to watch the wildlife animals as they return to their dens for the night. Later, drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Akagera Game Lodge (Mid-range), Karenge Bush Camp (budget)
Important to note: on day 3, you will also get to participate in a night game drive, which will give you the chance to watch how the park comes to life when the sun sets. You will watch the carnivores hunting and many other rewarding attractions. (The night drive is only possible when you sleep in the mid-range accommodation, Akagera Game Lodge)
Day 4: Behind the Scenes Tour and departure
Have breakfast at your lodge in the morning and head out for a behind-the-scenes tour in Akagera National Park. Get on the management of the park for additional insights into Akagera Park, where you will meet employees at the park while learning about exciting conservation developments in Akagera. This activity takes 1½ hours after the safari experience. Your driver/guide will drive back to Kigali, where you will be dropped off at a hotel of your choice or Kigali international airport in case you have a flight to catch back home. You can do a city tour on this day if you didn’t get to do it on your first day. End of your 4 days Akagera National Park safari.
