Day 1: Gorilla trekking in Rwanda
As early as 4:00am. our guide will meet you after having your breakfast and your lunches packed and transfer you to volcanoes national park, home to the mountain gorillas in Rwanda. On reaching, he will take you to Kinigi Headquarters where you are expected to be given a brief before starting the gorilla trek. This brief is done at 7am. You are given guidelines during this brief before you are allowed to start the trek. This gorilla trek can take to about 2 hours to half a day as its unpredictable. When you finally find the gorillas, you will have to maintain a 7 meters’ distance and you are allowed one hour to admire and take photos of the gorillas. During the time you spend with the gorillas you will get the opportunity to understand a number of their rewarding features like how they co-exist with one another, you will get to watch the duty of the dominant silverback whose role is to mate with the adult females to increase the members of the family, raid other gorilla families for their members, you will watch the juveniles grooming one another for a rewarding safari experience. After the experience, you will participate in iby’iwacu cultural visit which will give you an insight about the unique culture of Rwanda through their food and cultural dances. After the experience, you will head back to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Explore the Musanze caves and drop off in Kigali city
After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will make your way to the park to participate in the exploration of musanze caves which have a unique cultural significance in Rwanda. The caves were used as the coronation grounds for the kings of Rwanda and during the 1994 Rwanda genocide where over a million of Rwandans were killed. After the experience, you will head back to Kigali city where you will be dropped off at a location of your choice.
