Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes national park
You will be met by your driver guide at your agreed location in Kigali city to transfer to volcanoes national park where you will arrive in time to participate in Ibyi’wacu cultural village tour. Have a guided walk around the village at the different sites that exhibit the different aspects of the people of at the village to have an insight about the interesting features of the culture of the people of Rwanda. By visiting ibyiwacu cultural village get to see a medicine man that is mixing a number of herbs that were used to cure a number of diseases like bareness and impotence, stomach upsets, fever and many more. If you’re interested, you can also get involved in mixing the herbs which will give you an authentic experience. After the experience head to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay. Day 2: Golden monkey trekking
As early as 5:00am, you will be picked up by your guide to transfer you to volcanoes national park where you will get to participate in the golden monkey trekking which will lead you to a number of different attractions in the wild from the habituated golden monkey troops that you will get to observe how they go about their daily activities in the wild. The golden monkeys van be accessed when you hike the Virunga mountains in Rwanda which will lead you to the habituated gorilla families watching how they co-exist with one another, the environment and many other rewarding features. After the safari experience, you will embark on your journey back to Kigali city where you will be dropped off at your hotel in Kigali fro dinner and overnight stay at Hotel des mille collines.
Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe national park
After an early morning breakfast, you will be picked by the driver from your hotel in Kigali or a location of your choice in Kigali and drive southwards to Nyungwe Forest National Park. You will have a stopover in Butare, where you will visit the national museum of Rwanda, the king’s palace in Nyanza with lunch en-route. Before you make your way to the Park you will have a stopover at the Huye women’s coffee Cooperative which will take you on a 2 hour’s safari at the coffee plantation understanding more about the coffee making process from harvesting, sorting, cleaning until it is processed. You will also get to watch how coffee has improved the livelihoods of the neighboring communities through women empowerment for an amazing safari experience. Day 4: Chimpanzee habituation and transfer back to Kigali city
After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will make your way to Gisovu chimpanzee community where you will embark on chimpanzee habituation in Nyungwe national park which will give you the chance to watch the species and how they are trained to get accustomed to human presence. Interesting about chimpanzee habituation is the fact that it is an all-day activity which will give you the opportunity to spend more time with the species watching their different training sessions. During your chimpanzee habituation process in the park will give you the chance studying their behavior, feeding patterns, how they build their nests and many other rewarding features of the chimpanzees. After the safari experience, you will head back to your starting point where you will be presented your chimpanzee habituation certificate. After you will connect with your guide who will drive you back to Kigali city where you will be dropped off at a location of your choice.
