7 Days Best of Rwanda Tour Overview
Day 1, Arrival at Kanombe Airport
Upon arrival at Kanombe international Airport in Kigali, you will be welcomed by a representative of our company who will transfer you to your hotel in Kigali for dinner and overnight stay. Or, depending on your time of arrival, you will carry out a short Kigali city tour which will involve visiting the genocide memorial places, Rwanda Museum and so many more other places. Day 2, Transfer to Parc National Des Volcans
After an early morning breakfast, you will then transfer to Parc National Des Volcans which is found in the northern area of the country. The park is well known for its rare mountain gorillas and there fore Gorilla trekking is its major tourism activity. Upon arrival you will go for Ruhengeri city tour, after, transfer to your place of accommodation for dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge for Luxury/Gorilla nest lodge or Virunga Lodge for Mid range/Kinigi Guest house or Muhabura lodge for Budget.
Day 3, Gorilla trekking in Parc National Des Volcans
Early in the morning after breakfast and a briefing from the ORTPN officials, set off for the gorilla tracking. This experience of gorilla tracking is a once in a life time adventure. The rangers will lead you deep into the forest in search for the Gorillas. You will move up and down the rugged terrain until you finally meet these harmonious creatures that will entertain you for about 1 hour. The activity in Rwanda can take 3-5 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas.
This is an awesome and exciting moment. Enroute there are a lot of chimpanzees and other types of the primates such as the monkeys, birds and so more. Return for lunch at the Lodge and in the afternoon, visit the Karisoke research center and the graves of Diane Fossey a woman who was murdered because she was protecting these endangered mountain Gorillas. Day 4, Transfer to Nyungwe forest national park
Have an early breakfast at the lodge and after transfer to Nyungwe forest national park with lunch en route. The forest is rich with the shy forest dwellers like the wild chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys and many others. En route, you will visit Lake Kivu and have great scenic views. Day 5, chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe forest
After breakfast, report to the park headquarters in Nyungwe forest for briefing before going for chimpanzee tracking. However, it is advisable to organize packed lunch and plenty of water prior to this expedition since it can sometimes last over 6 hours. In the forest, you will not only see chimpanzees to but also variety of animals and birds like the Rwenzori Turacco, black and white casqued horn bill, colobus monkeys – sometimes as many as 400 in a group. Day 6, Transfer to Akagera national park
You will have an early breakfast after which you will leave Nyungwe forest National Park and transfer to Akagera national park. Enroute, visit the Rwanda National Museum and also pass by the Nyanza cultural village where the African culture is witnessed. Dinner and overnight in Akagera Game lodge
Day 7, Transfer back to Kigali and Departure.
A morning game drive while leaving the park will reward with views of animals missed out in the previous game drive. Transfer back to Kigali and depending on your flight time, you can visit the craft villages and shop around at other places. Drop off will be at the Airport for your flight back home.
