Amahoro Gorilla Group
The Amahoro gorilla group derives its name from a local word to mean “peaceful” the name was given because it’s the most peaceful of all gorilla groups in Rwanda, the group leader Ubumwe is so calm and has also lost most of its group members to Umubano group led by Charles.
The Amahoro family consists of 17 group members of 2 black backs, 5 adult males, 1 silverback, 2 sub adult males, 5 juveniles and 2 babies.
When visiting the Amahoro family you are most likely not to see them in anger or resistance to trekkers, if you are humble and polite this is the best group recommended for you while visiting volcanoes national park for gorilla trekking.
There are 10 habituated gorilla families for tourism purposes in Rwanda namely; Kwitonda gorilla family, Karasimbi gorilla family, Hirwa gorilla family, Sabinyo gorilla family. Group 13 (Agashya), Bwenge gorilla family, Ugenda gorilla family, Susa gorilla family and Amahoro gorilla family.
Rwanda is a very beautiful country often known as the Switzerland of Africa or land of a thousand hills, it’s also one if the cleanest countries in the world there are a lot more of activities you can enjoy while visiting Rwanda.
