Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Your driver guide will meet you at your agreed location in Kigali city to transfer to Volcanoes National Park, where you will arrive in time to participate in Ibyi’wacu cultural village tour. Have a guided walk around the village at the different sites that exhibit the different aspects of the people of the village to have insight into the interesting features of the culture of the people of Rwanda. You will get to see the replica of the king’s palace, where you will get to see the architecture that they used during the olden times, which involves the use of grass and cow dung to establish strong house structures. At the king’s palace, you will get to see a medicine man who is mixing a number of herbs that were used to cure a number of diseases like barrenness and impotence, stomach upsets, fever, and many more. If you’re interested, you can also get involved in mixing the herbs, which will give you an authentic experience. After the experience, head to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay. Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Rwanda
After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked up from your hotel. Our guide will meet you after you have your breakfast and lunch packed, and he will take you to Kinigi Headquarters, where you are expected to be given a brief before starting the gorilla trek. This brief is done at 7 am. You are given guidelines during this brief before you are allowed to start the trek. This gorilla trek can take anywhere from 2 hours to half a day, as it’s unpredictable. When you finally find the gorillas, you will have to maintain a 7-meter distance, and you are allowed one hour to admire and take photos of the gorillas. During the time you spend with the gorillas you will get the opportunity to understand a number of their rewarding features like how they co-exist with one another, you will get to watch the duty of the dominant silverback whose role is to mate with the adult females to increase the members of the family, raid other gorilla families for their members, you will watch the juveniles grooming one another for a rewarding safari experience. After the trek, you will head to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Lake Kivu
After an early morning breakfast, connect with your guide and make your way to the Lake. You will drive southwards to have a stopover in Butare, where you will visit the national museum of Rwanda, the king’s palace in Nyanza, with lunch en route. After you will make your way to the Nyamirundi Island on the lake, where you will visit ‘Ingoboka,’ a coffee plantation where you will get to watch how the coffee is grown, you will also get the chance to watch how the coffee is processed from being harvested, dried, and then processed into some of the best coffee in the world. Interesting about your coffee tour, you will also get to have a cup of coffee. Later on, you will connect with your guide to participate in the boat cruise, which will offer exceptional views of the different bird species, the marine life, and many other attractions. After the safari experience, you will transfer to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Boat cruise, fishing, and departure
Wake up early morning, have an amazing breakfast at your lodge, and later transfer to participate in the boat cruise on Lake Kivu. Exploring the lake will give you a breathtaking experience as you observe the neighboring hills, diverse bird species, and a number of rewarding attractions.
