This 1 day birding safari in Volcanoes National Park will start from Kigali city where you will be picked up by your guide who will pick you up from a location of your choice or your hotel where you will be picked up by your guide to transfer you to Volcanoes National Park. It should be noted that although the activity can be done all throughout the day the best time would be during the morning because the birds are most active and more vocal, which makes them easy to spot and track. The best time for birding in Volcanoes National Park is during the dry season, when the skies are clearer making it easy for one to watch the species. The best months to participate in the activity include during the months of June to September and December to February.
You will be picked up as early as 5:00 am to transfer to Volcanoes National Park. On reaching the park, you will be assigned to a birding guide who will take you through the different trails in the park which will give you access to the different bird species in the park. Get ready to watch a number of different attractions as you hike through the trails along the Virunga Mountains in Rwanda. You will watch a number of primates like the Hamlyn’s monkey, vervet monkey, Mona monkey, black and white colobus monkey dent’s monkey, and many other rewarding primate species. While hiking through the trails, you will get to watch a number of bird species like the Albertine endemic bird species, migratory species from Europe, you will also get to watch a number of bird species from the guinea-Congo biome. Some of the different species that can be seen include; the long-crested eagle handsome Francolin, Rwenzori Batis Dusky turtle love, paradise flycatcher, archer’s ground robin, African Rwenzori, double collared sunbird, marsh harrier, Ruwenzori turaco, common moorhen Ruwenzori night jar, grey throated tit, the dusky crimson wing, red-faced woodland warbler and many other bird species. After the safari experience, you will connect with your guide who will then transfer you back to Kigali city where you will be dropped off at a location of your choice, which will mark te end of your 1 day birding safari in Volcanoes National Park.
