2 days birding safari in Nyungwe National Park
Nyungwe National Park is home to over 350 bird species that can be seen by birders interested in birding in Rwanda. The park is predominantly known for its 13 primates that can be seen when you participate in activities like chimpanzee trekking in Rwanda, primate tracking in Rwanda, and Nyungwe National Park. Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park and canopy walk.
In the morning, you will be picked by the driver from your hotel in Kigali and driven southwards to Nyungwe Forest National Park. You will have a stopover in Butare, where you will visit the national museum of Rwanda, the king’s palace in Nyanza, with lunch en route. After lunch, you will go on a walking trail that will take you to the Canopy Walk swing bridge 50 meters in length that is suspended from large trees. You will be able to see the amazing rainforest with a bird’s eye view, spotting wildlife moving about below and also get the chance to watch different bird species there after connecting to your accommodation to spend the evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight at Gisakura Visitor Centre/ Nyungwe Top Hill View Hotel
Day 2: Birding and depart to Kigali
On this day you will wake up to an early morning breakfast at your hotel and then transfer to the park, where you will connect with your guide for your birding experience in Nyungwe National Park. While hiking through the trails in the park. some of the different bird species that can be seen include; Pockefellers’s sun bird, Chapin’s flycatcher, Rwenzori Batis, strange weaver, red throated alethe the blue turaco, Ross’s turaco, coqui Francolin, long tailed cisticola, bubbling cisticola, Miombo wren warbler, Chubb’s cisticola among other the bird species. After you will be dropped off back in Kigali city and the end of your 2 days birding safari in Nyungwe National Park.
