3 Days Gorilla Trekking and Birding in Rwanda: Combining both gorilla trekking and birding in Rwanda will give you the chance to explore the gentle giants in their natural habitat, but also give birders a chance to explore several different bird species as you take on the different trails in the park to access the rewarding species. Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
At a location of your choice in Kigali city, a guide will pick you up and transfer you to Volcanoes National Park. On reaching the park, participate in the ibyi’wacu cultural visit, which will give you the chance to understand more about the culture of the people of Rwanda through several cultural attributes like their traditional dances, and you will enjoy their local delicacies, folk songs, among others. After the experience, head back to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Full day birding in Volcanoes National Park
On this day, you will get to participate in birding in Volcanoes National Park, which will give you access to over 200 bird species. Birding in the park will lead you to the bamboo and afro-montane forests, which will lead you to the Albertine endemic bird species. You will also get to visit Dian Fossey’s grave, where you will also get to watch the graves of her gorilla friends that were killed as a result of poaching. After your birding experience elapses, you will head back to Kigali city, where you will be dropped off at a location of your choice, and the end of your 3 days gorillas trekking and birding in Rwanda.
Day 3: Gorilla trekking and departure
After breakfast, with your packed lunch, you will hike the Virunga Mountains to access a habituated gorilla family. Reaching the family, you will spend an hour with the species observing how they co-exist with one another, you will watch the adult females taking care of the infants, get the chance to ttake pictures of the species and after your one hour elapses, you will head back to your starting point where you will be given a certificate of appreciation and ten head back to Kigali city where you will be dropped off at a location of your choice and this will mark the end of your 3 days gorilla trekking and birding in Rwanda.
