18 Days Rwanda & Uganda

Day 1, Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

On your arrival for your 18 days Rwanda & Uganda safari, our tour representative/guide will pick you up from the airport and transfer you to your Hotel in Entebbe/Kampala for dinner and overnight stay at Holiday Express Hotel/Entebbe Central Inn for Budget or Windsor Lake Victoria Hotel/ Imperial Botanical Beach hotel/Kampala Serena Hotel/Sheraton Hotel for Luxury or The Boma Guest house/ Imperial royale/Grand Imperial for Mid range. Depending on the time of arrival, your guide will take you on a city tour around Kampala. Places to visit include, Kasubi Tombs, Namugongo Martyrs Shrine, the Uganda Museum and the African Craft Village.

Day 2, Depart for Murchison Falls National Park

Start your day by having a heavy breakfast at your Hotel in Kampala. The guide will then come and pick you up and transfer you to Murchison Falls National Park which is Uganda’s largest park. The park is a habitat for animals like elephants, buffaloes, giraffe sand a variety of antelopes. En route, you will visit the famous Luweero triangle and also stop over for lunch in Masindi Town. Proceed and reach the famous which was named after the magnificent Murchison falls. Upon arrival, Visit the Top of the falls where water thunders through different rapids from a 7-metre gap to fall over 40 meters Gorge below. Dinner and overnight stay at Paraa safari Lodge/ Nile Safari Camp for Luxury or Sambiya River Lodge for Mid range or Red Chill’s camp for Budget

Day 3, Game drive and launch cruise along the Albert Nile

After an early breakfast, you will go for a game drive on the Northern Bank of River Nile. The activity takes about 3-5 hours and Wildlife in the Park includes elephants, Rothschild giraffes, buffaloes, lions, Hartebeest, Uganda kobs, oribis and waterbucks. After the drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon go for a launch cruise on the Albert Nile which will give you an exciting panoramic view at the bottom of the mighty Murchison falls.

Along the cruise, you will encounter crocodiles, hippos, and birds on the river banks like kingfisher, cormorants, bee-eater and the rare shoebill stork. Dinner and overnight at Paraa safari Lodge/ Nile Safari Camp for Luxury or Sambiya River Lodge for Mid range or Red Chill’s camp for Budget

Day 4, Transfer to Semuliki National Park

You will wake up early in the morning and start on your long journey to Semuliki National Park. You will pass Via Masindi and Hoima. You will have your lunch en-route to the Park. You will reach the park headquarters in the late afternoon where you will register and later check in into your lodge.

Late evening, you will go on a night game drive and search for wildlife species such as the slender mongoose, serval cats, white tailed mongoose and diminutive genet. Semuliki National Park is the only Park in Uganda where one can go on the night game drive. Return to your lodge late night for an overnight stay at Semliki safari lodge for Luxury, Beguma cottages for mid range and at different campsites for budget.

Day 5, Chimpanzee tracking in the forest

Early in the morning after a cup of tee, you will be briefed by the Uganda wildlife Officials at the Park headquarters about chimpanzee tracking. After this you will set out for chimpanzee tracking in the beautiful cool rain forest. Apart from the Chimpanzees, the forest also has a variety of bird species.

Return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, you will visit the hot springs of Sempaya and the pygmies. In the evening transfer to fort portal town for dinner and overnight stay at Rujuna guest house for Budget, Rwenzori View guest house/Fort Motel for Midrange and Mountains of the moon Hotel for Luxury

Day 6 of 18 Days Rwanda & Uganda safari; Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Depart Semuliki National Park and transfer to Kibale Forest National Park. Visit the Fort portal town in the afternoon and also visit the Toro King’s Place. Proceed to Kibale for check in at your Lodge. Dinner and overnight at Primates Lodge or Ndali Lodge for Luxury/ Kibale forest Lodge for Mid range/ chimpanzee guest house for Budget.

Day 7, Chimp Tracking and Nature/Forest Walk

After breakfast, you will set out for chimp tracking with in the Kibale Forest. During your search, expect to see a lot of primate species like chimpanzees, monkeys and other animals like the forest elephants, buffaloes, leopards, bush pig and duiker, lions, warthogs, reptiles and amphibians as well as a colorful variety of butterflies.

Return to the Lodge for lunch. After lunch go for a nature walk in the Bigodi swamp area and look out for most of the water loving bird species. The forest /Park has almost 335 species of birds and there fore a good place for birders. Return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight stay as above.

Day 8, Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park (3-4 hours)

Early in the morning after breakfast transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park reaching the park Headquarters at Mweya. Prepare and go for a game drive in the Northern crater area where there is a lot of dark holes called the black craters with no water. You may be able to see a lot of animal species such as the Elephants, lions, buffaloes, Leopards, monkeys such as the black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, patus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys and the blue monkeys.

Other animals that can be seen are the bush pigs and the warthogs, antelopes such as the topi, water and the bush bucks. Return late in the evening for dinner and overnight stay at the Luxurious Mweya safari lodge/ Jacana safari Lodge. End of day 8 of 18 days Rwanda & Uganda safari

Day 9, Game drive and Launch cruise.

Early in the morning go for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi area which is well known as the Kob mating grounds and there fore in this place one is able to see a lot of kobs and other antelopes like the situnga, and the hyenas. Other animals can also be spotted such as the Elephants, lions, and many more.

This takes 2-3 hours. Return to the camp for lunch and in the afternoon go for a Launch cruise on the Kazinga channel. You may be able to see a lot of crocodiles along the channels bank sides, a lot of the hippopotamus since in Africa this place is regarded as the highest concentration of the hippos, elephants drinking from the channel and a lot of bird species at the pelican point. Return for dinner and over night stay late in the evening at the Luxurious Mweya safari lodge/ Jacana safari Lodge.

Day 10, Morning game drive and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, set out for the morning game drive and then leave the Park to Kabale district commonly known as the Switzerland of Africa. Lake Bunyonyi is located in Kabale District, southwestern Uganda and is reputed to be one of the deepest in Africa. Upon arrival take a boat ride to most of the Islands on the Lake. Day 11, Transfer to Rwanda

After breakfast, you will drive to Kisoro to across the Uganda –Rwanda- Cyanika Border. Have lunch en route and arrive at your lodge in the afternoon. You should be aware of the time difference between these two neighboring countries (Rwanda is one hour behind of Uganda).

Upon arrival you will go for Ruhengeri city tour, after, transfer to your place of accommodation for dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge for Luxury/Gorilla nest lodge or Virunga Lodge for Mid range/Kinigi Guest house or Muhabura lodge for Budget

Day 12, Gorilla tracking in Rwanda

This will be your second time to track these endangered rare species of Mountain Gorillas. The tracking time in Rwanda is different from the tracking time in Uganda. Most of the Gorilla groups in Rwanda are very near and therefore the time taken to track these gorillas is also not much. Retire to your Hotel for lunch and short evening walk around the area. Day 13, Visit the Murambi genocide memorial site and drive back to Bwindi

After breakfast, you will Visit the Murambi genocide memorial and the national museum. After, you will transfer back to Uganda and to Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park. Upon arrival, check in into your lodge, dinner and overnight stay at Buhoma Homestead /Gorilla Resort camp/ Gorilla Forest Camp for Luxury or Lake Kitandara Luxury tented camp/Mantana Engangi Bwindi Lodge for mid range or Buhoma community Bandas/Bwindi View for budget

Day 14, Gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park

Early in the morning after breakfast and a briefing from the UWA officials, set off for the gorilla tracking in Bwindi. This experience of gorilla tracking is a once in a life time adventure. The rangers will lead you deep into this thick forest in search for the Gorillas. You will move up and down the rugged terrain until you finally meet these harmonious creatures that will entertain you with performances for about1hour.

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi can last anywhere between 2 to 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. However, a close encounter with a mountain gorilla is an awesome and exciting moment and you will be allowed 1 hour to view and phograph the giant primates. Return for dinner and over night as above.

Day 15 of 18 Days Rwanda & Uganda Safari; Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Very early in the morning, you will take your breakfast and then drive to Lake Mburo National Park. Have Lunch in Mbarara town and after you will enter the Park with a game drive en-route which will enable you to see animals like zebras, topes, elephants, elands, impalas, buffaloes and antelopes. Dinner and overnight stay at Mihingo Lodge/Mantana luxury tented for Luxury or Arcadia cottages for mid range or Rwonyo campsite for Budget.

Day 16, Game drive and Boat ride on Lake Mburo

Early morning, you will go for game drive and search for early risers and all other animals that you missed out in the previous game drive. Return to the Lodge for refreshments, Lunch and in the after noon go for a boat ride on Lake Mburo which will get you quite close to Crocodiles and Hippos. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Mihingo Lodge/Mantana luxury tented for Luxury or Arcadia cottages for mid range or Rwonyo campsite for Budget.

Day 17; Hyena walk and transfer back to Kampala

Early morning you will have breakfast and after go for the hyena walk with in the Park. This is a guided walk and you will be escorted by an official from the Uganda wildlife Authority for security purposes and to provide you with more information about the Park and the trail.

Start on your journey to Kampala with Lunch en-route.
