This 7 days Uganda and Rwanda safari will give you the chance to embark on double gorilla trekking in Africa, which will lead you to gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where you will enjoy participating in gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park. For your gorilla trekking experience in Rwanda, you will access the habituated mountain gorillas with whom you will spend an hour with the species. You will explore several different attractions in the wild.

7 Days Uganda and Rwanda Safari

Day 1: Pick up in Kigali and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park safari

After breakfast, you will be picked up by your guide to transfer you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where you will get to participate in gorilla trekking in Uganda. Before you transfer to the park, you can participate in the Kigali city tour, where you will access a number of destinations from the Kigali genocide memorial museum, Kimironko market, and other sites. After the Kigali city tour, you will get to transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the Cyanika border. Depending on the time you reach the hotel, you can get to participate in the Batwa trail experience, to understand more about the culture of the people of Rwanda. Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel in either of the sectors of the park.

Day 2: Gorilla habituation and transfer back to Kigali

After an early morning breakfast at your hotel with your packed lunch, you will make your way to the park headquarters to participate in the briefing session for your gorilla trekking experience in Uganda. With gorilla trekking, you will get to spend an hour with the species, observing a number of their different features as they co-exist with one another and the forests. After the safari experience, you will then connect to your guide, who will transfer you to Kigali city, where you will be dropped off at your hotel in Kigali for dinner and an overnight stay at Hotel des Mille Collines.

Day 3: Transfer to volcanoes and Mount Bisoke hike

At a location of your choice in Kigali city, our guide will pick you up and transfer you to Volcanoes National Park. On reaching the park, you will set out for the Mt. Bisoke hike, which is part of the Virunga mountain ranges shared by Mgahinga National Park in Uganda, Virunga National Park, and Volcanoes National Park. On reaching the summit, you will discover a beautiful crater lake, and the whole experience is quite a journey! Along the trail, you will discover a lot of birdlife and captivating scenery – the reason Rwanda is referred to as the “land of a thousand hills” with the rolling hills that can be seen from a breathtaking view. After the hike, you will have lunch and relax at your hotel as you await the next day’s activity. Alternatively, you can visit the Ibyiwacu cultural village to enjoy the unique culture of the people of Rwanda. Dinner and overnight stay at Amikus hotel (budget), Da Vinci hotel (Mid-range)

Day 4: Golden monkey trekking and  nature walk 

After an early morning breakfast, you will get to participate in the golden monkey trekking, which will lead you to several different attractions in the wild, where you will get to observe how they go about their daily activities in the wild. The golden monkeys can be accessed when you hike the Virunga Mountains in Rwanda, which will lead you to the habituated gorilla families watching how they co-exist with one another, the environment, and many other rewarding features. After the safari experience, you will head to your hotel for lunch, and later on in the evening, you will participate in the nature walks, which will give you access to several different attractions from the primate species like the vervet monkey, Hamlyn’s monkey, Mona monkey, silver monkey, among other species. After your safari, return to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking and transfer back to Kigali

After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked up from your hotel with your packed lunch to transfer you. Our guide will meet you after having your breakfast and your lunches packed, and he will take you to Kinigi Headquarters, where you are expected to be given a brief before starting the gorilla trek. This brief is done at 7 am. You are given guidelines during this brief before you are allowed to start the trek. This gorilla trek can take anywhere from 2 hours to half a day, as it’s unpredictable. When you finally find the gorillas, you will have to maintain a 7 meters’ distance, and you are allowed one hour to admire and take photos of the gorillas. During the time you spend with the gorillas you will get the opportunity to understand a number of their rewarding features like how they co-exist with one another, you will get to watch the duty of the dominant silverback whose role is to mate with the adult females to increase the members of the family, raid other gorilla families for their members, you will watch the juveniles grooming one another for a rewarding safari experience. Dinner and overnight stay at your hotel.

Day 6: Full-day game drive in Akagera National Park

After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, connect with your guide for the safari and make your way to Akagera National Park. On reaching the park, you will participate in the full-day game drive, which covers both the southern and northern sectors. The full-day game drive will give you access to mammal species grazing in the savannah plains, and the carnivores can also be seen catching their prey in the wild. After the full day drive, head to Ruzizi Tented Camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 7: Hot air balloon safari in Akagera and game drive

Wake up early and participate in the hot air balloon safari, which involves a flight through the park, observing several rewarding attractions. Some of the notable species you will observe include the exceptional views of elephant herds grazing within the plains, you will watch different bird species flying within the skies, and many other rewarding attractions. After the experience, have a bush breakfast and later participate in the boat cruise on Lake Ihema, which will lead you to exceptional views of the animals quenching their thirst; you will also watch the shoebill stork, among others. After making your way back to Kigali city, where you will be dropped off at a location of your choice or the airport, this will mark the end of your 7 Days Uganda and Rwanda Safari.
