7 Days Uganda Rwanda Primates Safari Overview
Day 1, Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Early morning you will be picked up from your Hotel in Kampala and our tour guide will transfer you to western Uganda in Queen Elizabeth National Park which hosts a diversity of wildlife. En route to the Park, you will have a stop over at Mpambire drum village and at the Equator at Kayabwe where water experiments will be done to prove to you that you are in both atmospheres (Southern and Northern Hemisphere).
Proceed and have a lunch stopover in Mbarara town and then later drive towards the Park. Upon entering the park, a game drive en-route will be a rewarding activity which will enable you to encounter many of the Parks’ flora and fauna. Dinner and overnight stay at Mweya safari lodge/ Jacana safari Lodge for Luxury or Hippo Hill camp for midrange or Simba safari camp/Mweya Hostels for budget.
Day 2, Game drive and Launch cruise
Early in the morning after breakfast, you will set out for the game drive in search for early risers. The park has diverse eco-system of grassy plains, rivers, crater lakes, forests, swamps and lakes. These are a home to various types of wildlife and a game drive in Queen Elizabeth will reward you with views of animals such as lions, leopards, forest hogs, buffalos, elephants, waterbuck, Uganda Kob and other types of antelopes.
Return to your Lodge for lunch and after, go for a 3 hours launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward. This cruise will let you pass through a place of the highest concentration of hippos and you may also see many animals drinking at the water’s edge. The cruise also offers good platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. Day 3, Game drive and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park
This morning you will set out for the game drive in Ishasha area and expect to see the rare tree climbing lions. The lions can be seen up on the fig trees. However it’s not a guarantee that the lions will be seen. Some times it depends on the luck and time of reaching the area.
You will have lunch in the Ishasha sector and after you will proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park in preparation for your next day Gorilla trek. Dinner and overnight stay at Buhoma Homestead /Gorilla Resort camp/ Gorilla Forest Camp for Luxury or Lake Kitandara Luxury tented camp/Mantana Engangi Bwindi Lodge for mid range or Buhoma community Bandas/Bwindi View for budget
Day 4 of 7 Days Uganda Rwanda: Gorilla trek in Bwindi forest Park
Early in the morning after breakfast and a briefing from the UWA officials, set off for the gorilla tracking. This experience of gorilla tracking is a once in a life time adventure. The rangers will lead you deep into this thick forest in search for the Gorillas. You will move up and down the rugged terrain until you finally meet these harmonious creatures that will entertain you with performances for about 1 hour and will be one of the key highlights of your 7 days Uganda Rwanda Safari.
The activity can take 6-7 hours since the gorillas move up and down. This is an awe some and exciting moment. En-route there are a lot of chimpanzees and other types of the primates such as the monkeys, birds and so more. Return for dinner and over night stay at Buhoma Homestead /Gorilla Resort camp/ Gorilla Forest Camp for Luxury or Lake
Day 5, Transfer to Rwanda
After breakfast, you will drive to Kisoro to across the Uganda –Rwanda- Cyanika Border. Have lunch en route and arrive at your lodge in the afternoon. You should be aware of the time difference between these two neighboring countries (Rwanda is one hour behind of Uganda). Upon arrival you will go for Ruhengeri city tour, after, transfer to your place of accommodation for dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge for Luxury/Gorilla nest lodge or Virunga Lodge for Mid range/Kinigi Guest house or Muhabura lodge for Budget
Day 6, Gorilla tracking in Rwanda
This will be your second time to track these endangered rare species of Mountain Gorillas. The tracking time in Rwanda is different from the tracking time in Uganda. Most of the Gorilla groups in Rwanda are very near and therefore the time taken to track these gorillas is also not much. Retire to your Hotel for lunch and later transfer back to Kabale in Uganda. Day 7, Boat trip on Lake Bunyonyi and transfer back to Kampala
Take break fast and then take a boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi. You will also visit the museums in Kabale and from there you will transfer back to Kampala. Drop off will be at your Hotel in Kampala or Entebbe airport for your onward flight marking the end of 7 Days Uganda Rwanda Safari.
