Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Kigali, transfer to Akagera National Park and boat cruise
On day 1 of the 6 day Big Five Safari and Primate Safari in Rwanda, you will be met by your driver guide at your agreed location in Kigali to transfer to Akagera National Park where you will arrive in time to embark on an early morning game drive that will give you the chance to watch a number of game animals especially the herbivores like the elephants grazing within the plains, the rhinos, you will also get to see a number of remarkable views for the park and a number of rewarding attractions after your game drive you will be transferred to the lodge for lunch and refreshments and later on participate in the afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema where you will see a game like hippopotamuses, Crocodiles and many bird species like the endangered shoe bill stork, African Kingfishers catching their prey from the Lake that lives around the lake and the surrounding swamps. Day 2: Full day game drives and night game drive
On day 2 of the 6 day Big Five Safari and Primate Safari in Rwanda, you will rise up early and go for a game drive with great anticipation of seeing the different animals that rise early to graze and predators looking for their early morning kill. After the game drive, return to connect with your driver guide and drive back to your lodge for lunch. Later in the afternoon you will embark on the evening game drives and get to watch a number of wildlife species that you might have missed out on during the morning game drives which will give you clear views of the early risers in the park like the elephants, rhinos, oribi and many other rewarding attractions. in the evening game drives, you will get the chance to watch a number of carnivores hunting for their prey as you watch a number of herbivores heading back to their hiding spots. you will also get to participate in the night game drive which will give you the chance to watch how the park comes to life when the sun sets. Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park
Breakfast will be served early meet your driver guide for your transfer to Nyungwe forest you will be driven southwards to Nyungwe Forest National Park watching a number of rewarding attractions like the rolling hills of Rwanda, the homesteads, and so on. You will have a stopover in Butare, where you will visit the National Museum of Rwanda, and the king’s palace in Nyanza with lunch en route. head back to your lodge/ hotel. Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk
After an early morning breakfast at your hotel with your packed lunch, you will be picked up by your guide who will transfer you to Nyungwe National Park where you will get to participate in chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk. Chimpanzee trekking in Rwanda is quite a rewarding activity which will give you the chance to understand more about the primate species which will give you an amazing time in the park. The activity involves hiking through the forest of the park in order to access the habituated chimpanzee troops, during the activity you will have the chance to observe how they carry out their daily activities, how they carry out their daily activities, their grooming patterns, how they care for their infants, how they construct their nests for overnight stay. After the rewarding experience, you will have your lunch and relaxation. After your lunch, you will participate in the canopy walk which will give you the chance to see a number of rewarding and breathtaking views of the park from an ariel view. Day 5: Isumo waterfalls hike and Lake Kivu adventure
Isumo Trail in Nyungwe Forest National Park is one of the most phenomenal day hikes in Rwanda. There is no view greater and more dramatic than seeing the stunning Isumo waterfalls. Many Travellers who take on this trail want to experience the unrivaled beauty of the waterfalls, get classic photography, and watch a number of bird species that include Rwenzori Turaco as well as primates like L’Hoests monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and blue monkeys among others. after the rewarding experience make your way to Lake Kivu in Gisenyi arriving in time for lunch at your hotel. Later in the afternoon, you will head out for a boat cruise on Lake Kivu where you will get a chance to explore some of the islands on the lake as well as birdlife. Day 6: Transfer Back to Kigali.
