6 Days Of Double Gorilla Trekking in Uganda and Rwanda

Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Your guide will pick you up at your place of choice in Kigali city and transfer you to Volcanoes National Park. On reaching the park, participate in the ibyi’wacu cultural visit, a unique cultural group that has several rewarding attractions that can be seen when you visit the group. You will understand their culture through a number of ways, such as their dance, folk songs, and many more. After the safari experience, you will make your way to your hotel for refreshments, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 2:  Gorilla trekking in Rwanda

Have breakfast and with your packed lunch, head out to the habituated gorilla families in Rwanda. The safari experience is an out-of-this-world experience, which will give you the chance to hike the Virunga mountains, which will give you access to several attractions, such as primates like the golden monkeys, Mona monkeys, vervet monkeys, Hamlyn’s monkey, and many other different attractions. When you get to the gorilla family, you will enjoy watching the silverbacks as they protect the family, and you will watch the infants as they are taught how to go about daily activities in the wild. Take pictures of the species after your one hour elapses, and you will head back to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Birding and transfer to Kigali

After an early morning breakfast, you will then make your way to transfer to the park to participate in birding in Volcanoes National Park. The birding safari experience will give you access to several bird species, like the Albertine species, for instance, long-crested eagle, handsome Francolin, Rwenzori Batis, Dusky turtle dove, paradise flycatcher, archer’s ground robin, African Rwenzori, double collared sunbird, and several other bird species. After the experience, connect with your guide to transfer you back to Kigali city at your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4:  Pick up and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early morning breakfast, you will start the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which takes about 4 to 5 hours’ drive passing through the Katuna border in Kabale. On the way, you will enjoy great views of rolling hills in Rwanda, terraced farmlands, and beautiful scenery, among others. Upon arrival in the park, you will check into the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5:Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast, you will carry a packed lunch from the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will start trekking in the jungle in search of the mountain gorillas, which takes about 30 minutes to 6 hours, depending on where the gorillas are located, because they like to move from one place to another in search of food. During the trek, you will have the opportunity to observe other primate species, including l’hoest monkeys, chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys, and various plant and bird species, among others. Once the mountain gorillas are located, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat, which allows you to observe their habits and behaviors, watch them feed, breastfeed, and groom their young, take photos, and record the breathtaking moments to share with people back home after the safari. After the one-hour encounter with the gentle giants, you will trek back to the park headquarters, where you will be rewarded with a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking. After the safari experience will can either participate in the cultural tour or get the opportunity to visit the Batwa people, who were previously forest people, and have some unique cultural aspects from their local dances and many more. After, head to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6: Departure

After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will make your way back to Kampala city, where you will be dropped off at a location of your choice, marking the end of your 6 days double gorilla trekking in Uganda and Rwanda.
